WCCU Mom Digs Into Fall Fun
Fall is such a fun time of year, there are so many activities and events to attend geared towards kids in our local community and surrounding area. And as a mom of two young boys this gives me a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the nice weather before the winter months roll in. The week ahead will provide some great fall weather for all of us to have more fall fun.
Here are a couple fun filled activities our family enjoyed so far this fall.
Also be sure to check out the blog post I wrote with a list of 20 different activities to do with kids for more ideas to do with your kids before the end of the season.
BooFest
BooFest was hosted by Future Neenah and takes place during the final outdoor Farmers Market in downtown Neenah, WI at Shuttuck Park every year. BooFest had a variety of fun family oriented Halloween activities, including a costume contest, Halloween themed games and Trick or Treating.
The boys had a blast at the event, they got to take a picture with a real life Star Wars R2-D2, walked through a haunted courtyard, tried some free samples of amazing cupcakes from Pastry Pixie and enjoyed trick or treating at local downtown Neenah businesses and farmers market vendors, we even stopped by the Winnebago Community Credit Union booth for some goodies!
Sprangers Orchard (Apple Picking)
Located off County Rd KK in Kaukauna, WI. They have an awesome Pick-your-Own apples orchard offering a wide variety of different types of delicious apples. They also have a four acre Pick-your-own pumpkin patch.
This was the first time I took the boys to an apple orchard and it definitely won’t be the last. They had so much fun running around to find the best apple tree then climbing it to pick the best apples. They also had their fair share of apple tasting! Not only did we come back with a full bag of apples but we were also able to venture into their pumpkin patch and pick a couple pumpkins for us to paint later.
Zoo Boo
The New Zoo & Adventure Park located in Saumico, WI just 10 miles northwest of Downtown Green Bay, puts on an event called the Zoo Boo every year. We love visiting the New Zoo and this event just makes it all the more fun.
Everyone was encouraged to come in costume, so our family dressed up as different Paw Patrol characters. We got to trick-or-treat throughout the Zoo, go through a children’s maze, jump on giant inflatables, ride the merry go round, see live swamp monsters and visit all the animals at night.
They still have the Zoo Boo going on this weekend Oct 28th and 29th from 3pm-7:30pm so if you haven’t been there yet I highly recommend it; our boys had a lot of fun. View more information about the Zoo Boo.
Mulberry Lane Farm (Pumpkin Picking)
We have been to Mulberry Lane Farm every year for the past 3 years and absolutely love this place. They are located off County Rd B in Hilbert, WI.
Not only do they have a huge pick-your-own pumpkin patch but they also have a cute little petting zoo too. The boys enjoyed feeding goats, riding a pony, holding baby ducks, catching a chicken, and Cruz even tried milking a cow. We had a ton of fun on the farm with the animals and then enjoyed a tracker driven hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick our pumpkins. What’s nice is the pumpkins were included in the cost of admission and there were some really nice pumpkins left in the patch. If you are looking to go pumpkin picking before Halloween with the kids this is a great place to check out.
With Halloween coming up on Monday, this weekend will have plenty of indoor and outdoor events and activities for the whole family to enjoy together so be sure to check out Go Valley Kids for a calendar of events going on in the area this weekend. Be safe and have a wonderful Halloween!
