Family Fun…Local Attraction Open for Season
Kid friendly places are opening back up all over the area. So our family decided to head out to opening day at Menominee Park Zoo and Children’s Amusement Center on May 6th. It turned out to be amazing sunny day and our boys had a fun time.
To kick off the season…the Children’s Amusement Park and Zoo, the City of Oshkosh hosted a “Kids Fest” Carnival. My favorite part was the event was free and included fun children’s games, bouncy houses and entertainment. The boys tested their skills at beanbag and ring toss. Then burned up some energy in the big bouncy houses. Cruz’s favorite part of the amusement park was the train ride. For just $1.25 per person, we were able to take a nice quiet ride around the park, which lasted almost 10 minutes.
There are plenty more chances to join in on the Children’s Amusement Park fun. Upcoming events include Mascot Day on June 20th, Princess and Super Hero Day on July 18th, Bubble Bonanza on Aug 22nd and the Children’s parade on Sept 24th.
After the Carnival and train ride, we headed over to the Zoo. For what the Zoo lacks in size, it makes up for with up-close views of unique kid-loving animals. Cruz’s favorites were the Baboon, Bobcat and the Otters. Ryker liked the Grey Wolf, Monkeys and the Donkeys.
The Zoo also presents a variety of fun events coming up in the following months including Snooze at the Zoo on June 17th, which is a fun-filled overnight camping experience, and Madness Mondays, which are fun educational presentations on various animal topics.
Menominee Park also offers really nice picnic areas with an amazing playground that looks like a castle, for those who are looking to relax a bit and have some lunch.
Now is a great time to get out and start enjoying some of the warmer weather and what a better way then taking a day trip with your kids to the zoo and children’s amusement park.
